During the 4 year construction of the bridge, it didn’t have a name. Since it was being built on “Dames Point”, it became known as the Dames Point Bridge. The official and scarcely heard name of the bridge is actually the “Napolean Bonepart Broward Bridge”, named after the 19th governor of the State of Florida.
